great book
A wonderful, encouraging tool to really understand and control dopamine. The author does a great job of painting a picture that you can see yourself in. They use relatable "real life" examples that help the reader to feel less judged or shamed and more motivated to change habits. I really appreciate the constant reminder the 1- it is possible to change habits without throwing your phone away completely and 2- it's not your fault! The book provides tangible steps to work as well as a bonus companion workbook, activity checklist & my favorite, a guide to natural ways to boost dopamine.

Incredibly Helpful Book!
Fantastic book that is relatable, and so well written. I believe nearly all of us could benefit from reading a book like this, and gaining more clarity about our habits, what drives them, and how we can make small improvements.

Grounding, Helpful, and Pretty Well-Paced
I appreciated the read for the clear breakdown of how dopamine works. There was quite a bit of scientific (I thought) evidence and definitions of things explained, which was nice. It talked about not just what dopamine is, but how it affects our relationship with tech and attention. It doesnât try to push an extreme detox but offers a more balanced, achievable path toward reducing digital overload. I liked the example scenarios sprinkled throughout, but I did feel like some of the information got a bit repetitive.
Although there are examples of what to do scattered throughout the book, I found most of the charts and actionable steps come toward the end of the book. That said, there's value to be found in the book, especially if youâre feeling burned out by constant screen use and want a structured way to reset without giving up all the things you enjoy. It's definitely a good reminder for when things feel too noisy.

interesting and informative
The Dopamine Reboot by James Meridian is a smart, down-to-earth guide that actually makes sense of how our brains get hooked on distractions. What I appreciated most is that it doesnât demand extreme lifestyle changes or preach perfection. Instead, it offers a practical, balanced approach to regaining focus and control without giving up all the things you enjoy. Meridianâs tone is relatable and encouraging, and the strategies are easy to follow and surprisingly effective. If youâve ever felt stuck in bad habits or overwhelmed by constant stimulation, this book gives you a clear, doable way forward.

A Practical Reset for the Modern Mind
The Dopamine Reboot offers a refreshingly grounded approach to breaking out of digital dependency without demanding a total tech detox. The author explains how our brains are wired to seek the next âhitâ of stimulation, not from reward itself, but from the anticipation of it, and why that leaves us feeling burned out.
This book balances science with everyday tools. The strategies are manageable, realistic, and designed for people who still want to enjoy their phones, not abandon them. For anyone feeling mentally scattered or emotionally drained by constant digital noise, this book offers a simple path back to clarity, energy, and focus.
As a busy professional, tired of losing time to scrolling, this guide helped me regain control without guilt or overwhelm.

Powerful read, important for everyone nowadays
This book was not only a good read, it was an awakening. A startling one. I think we don't really conceptualize and realize quite how addicted we all are to our devices. For all the reasons. In this day and age, it feels nearly impossible to not have a device within reach, for every day tasks-- from books to recipes to directions to researching just about anything we can think of or more. That's all aside from the need for instant gratification, being connected to email/ messages and more, at all times. And then when we need a break from everything--the phone is ready to provide mindless distractions that go on and on. This book is packed with relatable examples of the how's and the why's of this addiction, as well as many practical suggestions and tools for ways that we can begin to "Fast" or somewhat release our body from the hold the devices have on us, primarily by finding healthier ways to achieve a dopamine fix. A wonderful read!
